Undoubtedly, the tradition of celebrating tiny tots is nothing new to the Columbus Zoo. Since 1927, the Columbus Zoo has celebrated the birth of animals, starting with a small collection of animals donated by the Wolfe Family to now being a home for over 7000 animals.

Recently, the Columbus Zoo welcomed a new addition to their animal family, a tufted deer fawn. The teeny-tiny was introduced on Facebook to welcome the little guy by the Ohio Zoo on February 22, stating, "The male tufted deer fawn now has a name! Say hello to Angus!"

Angus received immense love from his social media debut. Some Facebook comments included, "He is freaking adorable. Welcome to this big world little Angus!" and "Squee what an angel."

Being the largest and one of the best Zoo’s in the U.S., it has a fantastic care staff that oversees every animal like their family. As always, the devoted care team warmly welcomed the new addition. Due to difficulties during his birth, they took great care of the tufted deer fawn and declared him their favorite baby. (Wenger, 2022)

The Columbus Zoo wrote on Facebook, "Angus was born on November 26, 2021, and is being hand-raised by his devoted care team due to complications following his birth."

"The care team selected Angus as their favorite baby boy and they expressed their love by giving him a moniker," according to the Zoo.

Angus Will Remain Behind The Scenes

Due to birth complications, the little tufted deer was not meeting the public. The Columbus Zoo is still preparing the baby for a public debut. (FIELDS, 2022)

The Zoo plans to exhibit the fawn later this year publicly. This little guy's brother, Tuffy, born on January 21, will shortly move to an outdoor enclosure, where Angus will join him soon.

"He continues to do well and is now spending time with his mom, Joslyn, every day. Angus is still receiving one bottle feeding every morning as part of his diet. Adding, Angus is currently staying behind the scenes, but guests can expect to see him later this year", the Columbus Zoo wrote on Facebook.
